Ron Cooper (born February 11, 1962) is an American football coach and former player. He presently is the defensive backs coach at Louisiana State University, a position he has held since the 2009 season.[1] Cooper served as the head football coach at Eastern Michigan University (1993–1994), the University of Louisville (1995–1997), and Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University (1998–2001).

Cooper was the head football coach at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan from 1993 to 1994. At Eastern Michigan, his teams produced 9 wins and 13 losses.[2]
From 1995 to 1997 Cooper was the head football coach at the University of Louisville, where in his final season he posted a 1-10 record. His overall record there was 13-20.[3]
Cooper's last head coaching position was at Alabama A&M from 1998 to 2001. His squad won a division championship in SWAC during the 2000 season[4] but lost the SWAC Championship Game to Grambling on December 12, 2000.[5]
In 2002, Cooper was the secondaries coach at the University of Wisconsin–Madison,[6] and in 2003 the defensive coordinator and safeties coach at Mississippi State. Other coaching stops have included the University of South Carolina and the University of Notre Dame. Cooper is an alumnus of Jacksonville State University.
